A flavored zodiac

Thesis project. The goal was to create a series of twelve prototypes of candy boxes, each for every zodiac sign, with the supervision and collaboration of Pastiglie Leone, an Italian leading candy factory based in Torino.

The series explores the connection between Western zodiac and Jungian archetypes.

The Astravaganti are strange, shy, eccentric creatures, mostly nocturnal. No one can decide to meet them.
They decide where, when and in front of whom to appear. They can detect who needs them the most and for what reason. Indeed they usually help people out to enlighten buried and dark aspects of their personality, let them surface to consciousness and in doing so help these people to accept or change themselves.

Phonotrope

The second part of project was to create four phenakistoscopes, applied to vinyl records.
A phenakistoscope is Victorian optical instrument, used to create loop animations, ancestors of modern cartoons. It is possible for our eye to visualize the actual animation by enlighting the record player in motion with a strobe light.
